Fuse
Board / Distribution Board / Consumer Unit
A
fuse board (Consumer Unit) upgrade is what it implies. It's
an upgrade from the current Fuse Board. With all the new
appliances we use now days, and new technological devices
we now have in our homes, we generally find that
older homes don't have sufficient power available to handle
the increased demand. Therefore, a "service
change" is required. This includes not only an upgrade
to your fuse board but an upgrade to your tails (wire size)
between the meter and Fuse Board.
What
does your Fuse Board look like?
Are
the entire breaker spaces filled up?
There
should always be some spots for extra fuse breakers.
You never want to have a fuse board that has all
the breaker spaces taken up as it is possibly
overloaded and unable to deal with new circuits.
Do
your lights dim when you turn on an appliance, such as a
cooker, hoover or hair dryer?
This
means that your fuse board is possibly 'maxing out'.
The load on the main switch is nearing its maximum. This
also causes surges which could destroy sensitive electronics,
computers, TV's Stereos, etc.
If
you are experiencing any of these symptoms, or just generally
have a concern about the condition of your electrical panel,
Call Online Electrical Services on 08004 118 718, and have
a qualified electrician inspect your fuse board.
